Naruto Dropped, One Year Later
2010/01/22
It's been more than a year since Dattebayo released its last episode of Naruto Shippuuden. This move was made after careful consideration and was accompanied by several news posts so that everyone would be prepared and understand the reasons behind the choice. Despite this, and despite the fact that it has been well over a year since DB has released an actual Naruto Shippuuden episode, we still get several messages a week asking us burning questions such as: "When are you going to release Naruto again?" "Why are the Naruto releases so delayed?" "When are you guys going to catch up on Naruto Shippuuden?" "What happened to Naruto?"
For those of you who have been afk for the last year, Dattebayo no longer subs Naruto Shippuuden. It is not delayed or stalled. We have permanently dropped the project. Any references to us picking it up again have been jokes. Any files that purport to be episodes of Shippuuden we've released since January 2009 have been trolls. We continue to sub the opening and ending songs at our convenience, because the official subs do not provide song translations. We continue to sub the Naruto movies. Official Naruto subs are available on Crunchyroll and Hulu; if you'd like fansubs Crunchyroll rips you will have to employ your 1337 Google skillz to find them.
Of course, if you're reading this news post, you probably already knew all that stuff. People who fail to notice that we haven't released something FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR probably don't read our news anyway!
