Important changes to Bleach! Please Read!
2009/10/02
Greeting, loyal minions. We're coming to you today to let you know of some important changes coming to your favorite fansub of Bleach.
In DB's younger days, we were filled with excitement and joy over new projects. We would work fervently into the night to bring you, our loyal fans, the shows you loved. But, alas, as is the case with all youth, we were short-sighted. We did not plan very efficiently. And with each new episode, we were given new challenges, new techniques and new made up Japanese words designed only to confuse.
We have learned since then. With time comes wisdom. And when we begin projects now, we think about these things. We set styles on how things will be translated and presented. But the earlier mistakes of our youth are still with us. The result of that lack of planning? The current Bleach fansub with no concrete styles on how to do things.
So what to do about our last legacy show? What to do about Bleach?
The staff are tired of the inconsistencies, and so we set out to fix it. There was a lot of discussion, sometimes quite vigorous, about how to do things. But one thing was clear. Changes must be made.
And so, starting with Bleach Movie 3: Fade to Black, you will be seeing the results of these changes. The major changes involve translating all Japanese techniques into English. Techniques in other languages will be left in their original languages. If you want to know what the translation is, that's what Wikipedia is for. We will be leaving some legacy words in Japanese (i.e. shinigami, zanpakutou, reiatsu, kidou, etc....). We feel these are well enough established that the fans know what they are and mean, as well as leaving some of the flavor of the world of Bleach. But everything else will be seen in English. We will also be leaving all names in Japanese. This includes the names of Zanpakutou, both in their sealed and bankai forms. Other minor changes will be to standardize capitalizations and things of that nature.
We know this is going to upset some of you. Maybe even upset you enough to leave us for someone else. So be it. Yes, it is a big change. Yes, it is a bit jarring to see for the first time. But we feel that this is a better solution to the problem at hand.
Do not send us feedback bitching about this. The decision is final. We do not want to hear how lame, stupid, retarded, fucked up, yadda-yadda-yadda this change is. Nothing, and I repeat, NOTHING, is going to change our minds. If you really and truly cannot handle these earth shattering changes, please feel free to go find, or start, another fansub.
And now, enjoy the movie!
